Role Background
KidsTime Workshops are fun, supportive group sessions for families where a parent or carer has a mental health condition. Theyre a safe, relaxed and non-judgemental space for families to come together to learn and talk about mental health, without shame or stigma.
Children get to meet other young people in the same situation, share experiences, get answers to questions and, most importantly, have fun.
As the Drama Facilitator you will play a key role in creating safe, imaginative, and supportive spaces for families affected by parental mental ill-health. Through drama, storytelling, creative play, and group interaction, you will help children and parents explore their feelings, build confidence, and connect with one another in meaningful ways.
This role brings together creativity, empathy, and structured facilitation to help families express themselves in ways that feel accessible, enjoyable, and validating. You will design and deliver interactive workshops that use drama techniques to empower children, nurture resilience, and celebrate their voices. Working closely with the Mental Health Lead and Service Coordinator, you will shape sessions that respond to the needs of families, transforming their ideas and experiences into playful, expressive activities that build trust, communication, and belonging.
PLEASE NOTE KidsTime workshops run weekly on Thursday evenings from 4pm 8pm at 4 different Family Hub locations across Bradford. The additional hours per week are during Thursday day time.
Purpose of the role
You will lead creative and interactive workshops that provide a safe space for families to express themselves, connect, and explore mental health through drama, storytelling, and games. Youll nurture a supportive environment where families can share experiences and build confidence, creating meaningful, engaging sessions that empower families and foster connection.
Role Outcomes
- Work closely with the Mental Health Lead and Service Coordinator to plan, deliver, and review creative and engaging workshops that support families affected by parental mental ill-health.
- Support families from referral through to participation, keeping in touch to ensure they feel welcomed and supported.
- Design and lead drama sessions that encourage children to express themselves, build confidence, and connect through creative games and exercises.
- Transform childrens stories into short, simple dramas, helping them explore their experiences in a fun and meaningful way.
- Capture key insights from workshops, recording feedback, incidents, and discussions to continually improve the sessions.
- Help track and evaluate the impact of the project, assisting with data collection and assessment.
- Stay informed on the challenges faced by families, sharing relevant insights and resources with participants when appropriate.
- Be a positive advocate for KidsTime Workshops, helping raise awareness and engagement in the community.
- Consistently working in alignment with our aims, objectives, policies, core values and standards set out in our Employee handbook.
- Fully participating in all relevant training to develop and maintain your performance in the role.
- Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to our values: Caring Always, Working Together, Supporting Everyone, Enabling All and Continually Improving.
- Performing other duties as reasonably required within the role.
