Rate of pay £13.65 per hour.
Young lad with Down’s syndrome looking for a Personal Assistant to help him travel safely and go out and socialize. The purpose of the role is to enable the lad to do things himself and increase his confidence rather than doing things for him.
The postholder should be fun and outgoing with the ability to create a good rapport with the young person.
This post would suit someone interested in football, live music, playing drums, dancing and going to the gym.
Some experience of care would be useful as would supporting people with communication. It is essential that the postholder be a member of the PVG scheme or willing to join.
The post consists of three contracted shifts totalling 8 hours a week – Monday and Thursday 3-5pm to support the lad to travel home safely after his day service, and a further 4 hours to support the lad to socialize. This 4 hour shift requires some flexibility as it is likely to occur in the evenings/ and different days and times depending on what the young person wishes to do. There will also be some additional hours available for ad hoc support when required
