Interim Finance Systems & Technical Accountant

We are supporting a business looking to appoint an experienced interim accountant to help deliver a number of finance systems, technical accounting and process improvement projects.

This is a hands–on assignment requiring somebody who is comfortable working across both financial reporting and finance systems, rather than a purely systems–focused implementation specialist.

The role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the completion of a Sage 200 Professional implementation, including the rollout of an OCR invoice processing solution.
• Leading the implementation of lease accounting software, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment under FRS 102.
• Supporting the year–end audit and preparation of statutory accounts.
• Reviewing and improving existing finance processes, controls and procedures.
• Helping strengthen financial governance and improve the efficiency of the finance function.
• Supporting wider finance systems and transformation projects where required.

The ideal background

We are particularly interested in accountants who can demonstrate a combination of technical accounting knowledge and finance systems implementation experience.

Relevant experience could include:

• Sage 200 Professional experience, ideally including implementation, upgrade or significant systems–development work.
• Implementation of other ERP or finance systems, alongside practical Sage 200 exposure.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Knowledge of lease accounting under FRS 102 and/or IFRS 16.
• Year–end, statutory accounts and audit experience.
• Finance transformation, process improvement or controls work.
• Post–acquisition accounting experience would be advantageous.
• Experience implementing OCR, AP automation or other finance technology would also be useful.

This would suit an experienced Financial Controller, Group Accountant, Finance Systems Accountant, Finance Transformation Manager or technically strong Finance Manager who enjoys project–based interim assignments and is comfortable getting involved at a detailed level.
