Sustainability Reporting Co-Ordinator

£12.2 - £13.7 per hourEstimated
Full-time

MKM is the leading independent builders’ merchant in the UK, and we were established in 1995. Our people are what make us unique in what we do. Today we have more than 143 branches and over 3300 employees nationwide. Whilst we continue to grow, we are constantly striving to always attract, recruit, retain, promote, and support a diverse mix of colleagues that create a sense of belonging to the ‘MKM family’ for everyone. We hope you will join us on our journey!

What You'll Do

We're looking for an organised and curious individual who enjoys working with data, solving problems and bringing information together from a wide range of sources.

You'll be confident asking questions, building relationships with colleagues and suppliers, and proactively follow up to stay on track. This reporting relies on input from people across the business, many of whom have other day-to-day priorities, so you'll need the confidence and resilience to keep things moving while maintaining positive working relationships. Strong written communication is essential. You'll help us complete customer questionnaires, sustainability assessments and reports, ensuring responses are clear, accurate and genuinely reflect what we're doing as a business.

You don't need to be a sustainability expert. We're looking for someone who is analytical, proactive, and keen to learn, who can present information in a clear and engaging way.

You'll Be Responsible For

  • Producing regular reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting customer and supplier requests for sustainability information.
  • Building strong working relationships across the business to understand activities and measurement.
  • Following up and coordinating information requests to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Checking data is accurate, complete and reliable.
  • Creating simple processes that make data collection easier and more efficient.
  • Producing reports, dashboards and presentations that bring data to life.
  • Writing clear and compelling responses for sustainability assessments, customer questionnaires and reporting requirements.
  • Working with colleagues across the business to improve the quality of our data and reporting.
  • Identifying trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.

You'll Work On Things Like

  • Energy, fuel and carbon reporting.
  • Recycling and waste data.
  • Social value and community impact reporting.
  • Supplier sustainability information.
  • Customer questionnaires and tender responses.
  • Tracking progress against our sustainability goals.
  • Producing presentations and reports for senior leaders.

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Is highly organised, has excellent attention to detail, and can manage multiple deadlines.
  • Enjoy working with data and solving problems, using Excel and other reporting tools.
  • Have excellent written English and can communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Are naturally curious, enjoys finding out how things work, and is keen to learn.
  • Build relationships easily and are comfortable working with people at all levels.
  • Takes ownership, following up on requests to see tasks through to completion.
  • Have the resilience to work through challenges and overcome obstacles.
  • Ask questions to understand the detail rather than accepting information at face value.
  • Can think creatively to find solutions when the answer isn't immediately obvious.
  • Can organise information from multiple sources.
  • Can turn complex information into something easy to understand.

What would make someone successful in this role?

  • Reports, questionnaires, and assessments are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Sustainability data is trusted and well understood.
  • Strong relationships exist across the business, helping us identify activities that support our sustainability goals.
  • Colleagues feel supported to provide information when needed.
  • The business can clearly see how it is performing against targets.
  • Colleagues can use insights to make better decisions.

Sustainability experience is not essential; we welcome applications from people with experience in finance, business support or administration roles. It’s more important that you are naturally curious, enjoy joining the dots, and can explore different sources of information.

Benefits

  • A competitive pay package.
  • Generous discretionary bonus scheme
  • Substantial staff discounts
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Holiday scheme which rewards length of service
  • Holiday Purchase Scheme
  • Perkbox discounts
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Financial Planning Support
  • Cycle to work scheme.
