The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent  Structural / Bridge Engineer to join our Consulting Structures team in  Dublin.

Salary: €45,000 - €55,000 

The standard hours of work are 40 Hours per week, but we offer a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid, part-time and flexible working patterns. What you will be doing

Our Structural Engineers play an important part within Consulting Structures team. As a Structural Engineer, you will provide effective support and assistance to your Senior Engineer on a variety of Structures public transport schemes, whilst supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians. As part of our Dublin team, you’ll work on local projects and support initiatives in Ireland and the UK remotely. Responsibilities include:

• To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
• Taking ownership and supporting the management and technical delivery of  bridge engineering projects from start to finish, including:
  • Design development
  • Structural assessments
  • Principal Inspections / Special Inspections
  • Feasibility and other technical reports
• Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme
• Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
• Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries
• Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team

We want to hear from you if you have

• Developed experience and expertise within Structures field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent.
• Comprehensive knowledge of structural design processes and procedures.
• An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and Client’s requirements.
• Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools (e.g LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
• Has a good understanding of Safety, Health & Welfare and risk assessment.
• Substantially experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied.

• Evidence in working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE or IStructE. or an equivalent professional licence gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
