Educato Recruitment are working with a growing Alternative Provision in Rochdale who are looking for an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a long-term basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced individual who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs , and who thrives in a setting where building strong relationships is at the heart of education.
The role requires an individual with either a qualification related to education, or someone with experience in this type of setting.
The RoleAs an HLTA, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of education across the provision, working closely with teaching and leadership staff to ensure pupils receive the individualised support they need.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teaching and learning across the provision
- Delivering planned lessons, activities and interventions
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs
- Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and engagement
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Building strong, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils
- Providing cover for lessons where required
- Adapting activities and learning to meet individual needs
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience
- Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and senior leaders
- Supporting safeguarding and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
The provision supports young people who may have experienced difficulties accessing mainstream education and who require a more personalised, nurturing and flexible approach .
Pupils may have a range of:
- SEND and additional learning needs
- SEMH needs
- Behavioural needs
- Autism and ADHD
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Anxiety and low confidence
- Barriers to attendance and engagement
- Previous experiences of exclusion or disengagement from education
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- HLTA status or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification/equivalent experience
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs
- Confidence delivering learning activities and interventions
- Strong behaviour management skills
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with challenging or disengaged pupils
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
Previous experience within Alternative Provision, PRU, specialist education or SEMH settings would be highly desirable.
The OpportunityThis role is initially offered on a long-term agency basis , with the opportunity to move onto a permanent contract through our 12-week temp-to-perm agreement .
