A busy secondary academy in Dartford is seeking a reliable and organised Science Technician to join its Science Department immediately. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical support to teachers and ensure laboratories are prepared, safe and fully equipped for practical lessons.

The Role

• Prepare practical lessons: Set up apparatus, chemicals, specimens and equipment for Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons.

• Support teaching staff: Work closely with Science teachers to ensure practical activities run smoothly.

• Maintain laboratories: Keep laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas clean, organised and safe.

• Manage equipment: Check, maintain and report faults with scientific equipment.

• Stock control: Monitor consumables and assist with ordering and maintaining appropriate stock levels.

• Health and safety: Follow school procedures and relevant CLEAPSS guidance.

The Candidate

• Science background: Previous experience in a laboratory, school or similar scientific environment is desirable.

• Practical skills: Comfortable handling laboratory equipment and preparing practical activities.

• Organised: Able to manage multiple requests and changing lesson requirements.

• Safety conscious: Understands the importance of safe laboratory procedures.

• Reliable: Can work independently while supporting a wider department.

• IT confident: Comfortable maintaining basic records and using school systems.
