Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Data Platform Services (DPS) working in the Project Delivery Team. This role is critical in ensuring successful project delivery across DPS by providing delivery oversight, monitoring progress and actively engaging in removing blockers and resolving issues promptly. Working closely with DPS POD leads, Delivery Leads and key Customer Stakeholders to maintain delivery standards and drive improvements across the DPS Project Delivery Lifecycle, fostering a culture of continuous improvements. With approximately 150 deliveries in flight at any time, we are looking for someone who is delivery focused, thrives in a fast-paced environment, stays ahead of challenges, and supports keeping projects on track.

As an Agile Delivery Manager within DPS, you will support DPS teams to deliver high-quality digital services that fulfil business requirements and that are essential to the UK's tax system. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a hands-on approach to delivery management.

The complexity or breadth of products or teams will vary in this role, depending on the context of the work assigned.

For those who thrive in a fast-paced, exciting, and motivational environment, we offer unique and unparalleled opportunities to work with some of the latest technologies and make a real, lasting difference.

  • Provide delivery assurance, working collaboratively with POD Leads and Delivery Leads, actively supporting (leading where necessary) recovery efforts when projects deviate from plan.
  • Balance oversight on multiple deliveries across business lines, identifying interdependencies and promoting "build once use many" approach.
  • Actively monitor velocity and backlog health across engagements, highlighting trends and intervene early.
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, and emerging trends across the delivery portfolio, providing clear guidance and actionable recommendations to mitigate or resolve them before they impact delivery.
  • Define and implement DPS Delivery Standards and Project Delivery Lifecycle, in partnership with the Head of Project Delivery.
  • Manage escalations to resolution, communicating effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Be comfortable negotiating and communicating within delivery teams and with stakeholders and be able to maintain and repair relationships.
  • Collaborate with Data Portfolio to ensure stakeholders are kept informed on delivery progress and maximise closer working with CDIO groups and customers.
  • Working with Head of Project Delivery to shape and deliver the project delivery roadmap and project dependency map.
  • Coach and mentor multi-functional teams in Agile and delivery management practices, throughout the full product lifecycle.
  • Managing stakeholders at all levels, including senior business and IT leaders,
  • Exhibit excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Commercial and supplier management demonstrating a clear focus on quality.
  • Strategic leadership, planning and delivery of effective project reporting.
We align to the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework, further information can be found here.

Essential Criteria:
