Are you an R&D engineer who enjoys turning ideas into reality through hands on testing and problem solving?
Join our Hull based R&D team and play a pivotal role in the development of innovative medical technologies that make a real difference to patients around the world. This role is situated within a team of scientists, technologists and engineers who have responsibility for the delivery of key new products. In addition, the role interfaces daily with personnel in other key functions to co-ordinate the completion of key tasks to deliver the project.
What will you be doing?
You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary R&D environment where no two days are the same. Working alongside scientists, technologists and engineers, you will plan and deliver laboratory testing that supports the design and development of new products. From setting up investigations and validating methods, to analysing results and sharing clear recommendations, you will help keep projects on track for time, cost and quality. You will also engage with colleagues across quality, manufacturing and external partners, ensuring robust, compliant and well documented development activities that support successful product delivery.
- Develop, validate, and optimise analytical, physical, mechanical, and electrical test methods to support product development, performance evaluation, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, calibration, qualification of new testing technologies, and coordination of external testing partners.
- Design and execute product testing programmes to assess functionality, robustness, stability, safety, and competitive performance of prototypes and commercial products.
What will you need to be successful?
Success in this role comes from curiosity, organisation and a practical approach to problem solving. You will bring:
A degree in engineering or a scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant experience, with a solid foundation in laboratory or technical testing
Experience planning, executing and documenting experimental work, with the ability to interpret data and draw clear, logical conclusions
Strong communication skills, enabling you to clearly report progress and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Confidence using standard Microsoft tools, with additional experience of laboratory software ; LabView , CAD or statistical tools being an advantage
