Occupational Therapist (Care Home)

£39k - £48k per annum

Westgate House Care Centre, located in Ware, Hertfordshire, is part of a family-run, award-winning care home group. We support elderly residents with a range of nursing needs. While our home has 109 beds in total, it also features a dedicated 13-bed Intermediate Care Unit, complete with its own private rehabilitation gym.

We are now looking for an  Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team on a permanent basis. You will provide Occupational Therapy assessment, advice and rehabilitation to residents discharged from hospital for further rehabilitation. You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with good clinical knowledge within a rehabilitation unit.

About The Role

  • Full time or Part time - minimum of 24 hours a week, covering 3 days, 8 hours shifts.
  • Undertake OT assessments and provide rehabilitation to residents discharged from hospital and the community, for further rehabilitation
  • Provide OT advice to residents, carers, family and multidisciplinary team members
  • Conduct off site access visits as necessary to identify equipment requirements and ensure safe discharge
  • Attend Multidisciplinary Team meetings to review our residents needs and plan discharge
  • Accurately maintain records and document in a timely manner
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and in-service training
  • Provide training to care staff on assembly of equipment for residents
  • As part of a team within a Nursing Home, take interest in our residents throughout the home, as well as with the Intermediate Care Clients and assist in activities for residents providing exercise where appropriate
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are monitored and any shortfalls identified and reported to the Home Manager
  • Have full knowledge of, and take responsibility, to ensure adherence to infection control policies and procedures at all times

  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
  • HCPC Registration
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, compassionate approach to care

Desired Criteria

  • Previous experience of working with the elderly is desirable but not essential as full training is provided
