Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Fellow to join the Bradford & West Yorkshire Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC). This post offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in the delivery of commercial clinical trials across a broad range of specialties, working within a dynamic multidisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will support the delivery of an expanding portfolio of commercial research studies, undertaking Sub-Investigator responsibilities and contributing to participant recruitment, clinical assessments and study visits. Working closely with Principal Investigators, research nurses and the wider research team, the post holder will play a key role in ensuring studies are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), study protocols and regulatory requirements. This role provides an excellent development opportunity for a doctor with an interest in clinical research, offering exposure to study design and feasibility, sponsor interactions, research governance and leadership within commercial research. The post holder will work across a variety of therapeutic areas and will be supported to develop the skills and experience required to become a future Principal Investigator. The successful candidate will contribute to improving patient access to innovative treatments and technologies while supporting the continued growth of high-quality commercial research across the region. - Undertaking Sub-Investigator duties in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant legislation.
- Conducting participant assessments, supporting screening, informed consent, recruitment and follow-up visits.
- Performing delegated study procedures and maintaining accurate study documentation and source data.
- Contributing to feasibility assessments and study set-up activities.
- Working collaboratively with research nurses, pharmacy, laboratory and specialist teams to coordinate complex studies.
- Supporting achievement of recruitment targets and national performance metrics.
- Attending Sponsor meetings, Site Selection Visits, Site Initiation Visits and monitoring visits as required.
- Maintaining high standards of participant safety, confidentiality and data integrity.
- Participating in audit, governance and quality improvement activities.
- Developing knowledge and skills in commercial research through education, training and mentorship, with opportunities to progress towards future Principal Investigator roles.

The post holder will work as part of the Bradford & West Yorkshire Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC), supporting the safe and effective delivery of commercial clinical trials across a broad range of therapeutic specialties. The role provides an opportunity to develop skills and experience in commercial research delivery whilst contributing to improved patient access to innovative treatments and technologies. The post holder will:
- Act as a Sub-Investigator on commercial research studies, undertaking delegated duties in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Trust policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support Principal Investigators in the day-to-day management and delivery of clinical trials.
- Assess potential participants for eligibility through review of medical records, clinical assessment and application of study inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Participate in the informed consent process, ensuring participants receive appropriate information and opportunities to ask questions before enrolment.
- Undertake study-related procedures and clinical assessments appropriate to training and competency, including medical histories, physical examinations and review of adverse events.
- Conduct screening, baseline, treatment and follow-up visits, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of study activities.
- Complete and maintain high-quality source documentation and support timely data entry and query resolution.
- Contribute to participant recruitment and retention strategies to support achievement of study recruitment targets and national performance metrics.
- Support feasibility assessments by reviewing study protocols and considering local capability, capacity and participant populations.
- Attend Sponsor meetings, Site Selection Visits (SSVs), Site Initiation Visits (SIVs), monitoring visits and investigator meetings as required.
- Work collaboratively with research nurses, pharmacists, laboratory teams, radiology departments and other specialist services to coordinate the delivery of complex clinical trials.
- Escalate study-related issues and risks appropriately and contribute to identifying solutions to maintain study delivery.
- Participate in audit, quality improvement and governance activities, supporting compliance with GCP and continuous improvement initiatives across the CRDC.
- Maintain mandatory training and undertake additional education and development relevant to the role.
- Participate in educational opportunities, including protocol training, Team Training Thursdays and mentorship arrangements, to develop knowledge and skills in commercial research.
- Contribute positively to a multidisciplinary "one team" culture across the CRDC partnership and support colleagues across a range of specialties and sites when required.
- Develop the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to progress towards future research leadership roles, including Principal Investigator responsibilities.

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
- Specialty specific requirements eg MRCP, FRCS, etc where appropriate this includes completion of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training.
