Information Rights Manager

We are responsible for handling the agency's statutory responsibilities relating to information, such as Freedom of Information requests and Subject Access Requests. The successful applicant will be expected to work 2-3 days per week in one of the Insolvency Offices nearest to their location. The Insolvency Service is an Executive Agency of Department for Business and Trade (DBT). The service provides a range of important public services and enforcement activities associated with and arising from personal and corporate insolvency and corporate misconduct. DBT is the data controller for the Insolvency Service's personal data, alongside Official Receivers acting in their statutory role. Reporting to the Head of Information Governance, the role of Information Rights Manager offers an exciting opportunity in an Agency that recognises the importance of managing, sharing and securing our valuable information assets. You will manage a small Information Rights team focusing on data protection issues and will work closely alongside the Information Management and Information Security teams within Information Governance as well as with Information Asset Owners across the organisation to promote best practices. Responsibilities As Information Rights Manager, you will support the Head of Information Governance, ensuring that the Insolvency Service is compliant with our legal obligations under information rights laws. You will use your skills and experience to achieve this by:

• Working with colleagues in our parent department DBT (the data controller), forming part of the governance framework to ultimately support the CEO as Accounting Officer
• Establishing and leading a team who will strive to uphold the Information Rights of our customers, stakeholders and employees, being the Agency's primary point of contact for data subjects
• Championing 'privacy by design' culture
• Bringing the Insolvency Service's Information Rights Strategy to life by creating proportional, risk based policies, guidelines, and training requirements and by managing those risks and any resulting changes
• Monitoring GDPR compliance
• Engaging with internal stakeholders to understand the security measures behind the agency's processing and managing responses to incidents
• Overseeing and reviewing the effective response to requests for Subject Access, Freedom of Information requests and delivering timely and high quality support and assurance on information rights issues across the agency and to its employees about their obligations under GDPR
• Advising on data sharing agreements, assessing the data protection impact of organisational changes, and maintaining the agency's Records of Processing Activities
• Designing and delivering training for colleagues at all levels, including Information Asset Owners, Senior Management and third party processors.
