Accounts Assistant

An established and growing business based in Four Ashes is looking to recruit an ambitious Accounts Assistant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in finance, with exposure to all aspects of transactional accounting and opportunities to develop their skills within a supportive environment.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate processing of financial information while gaining valuable experience across month-end and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently
• Maintaining accurate financial records and accounting data
• Performing bank reconciliations and supplier statement reconciliations
• Supporting weekly and monthly payment runs
• Assisting with credit control and customer account management
• Resolving supplier, customer, and internal finance queries
• Supporting month-end processes, including reconciliations and reporting
• Assisting with journals, accruals, and prepayments where appropriate
• Maintaining financial records in line with company procedures and controls
• Contributing to process improvements within the finance function
• Supporting the wider team with ad hoc finance and administrative duties

About You

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, or similar finance position
• Experience processing high volumes of invoices and maintaining accurate records
• Confident completing bank reconciliations
• Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with internal and external stakeholders
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Desirable

• AAT qualified or currently studying towards an AAT qualification
• Experience supporting month-end processes
• Knowledge of journals, accruals, and prepayments
• Experience using Sage, Xero, or other accounting software
