Process Improvement Analyst
Job purpose: Process Improvement Analyst - Graduate Apprenticeship
AMP Procurement Ltd | Glasgow | Full-time, permanent (Graduate Apprenticeship route)
About the role
AMP Procurement is looking for our first Process Improvement Analyst, a newly created role for someone who wants to combine a real job with a funded degree-level qualification.
You'll work directly with our leadership team to map out how the business runs day-to-day, then use AI tools (including Claude) to streamline, automate, and improve those processes, from procurement workflows to internal reporting and communications. This isn't a "shadow and observe" graduate role. You'll be given real problems to solve from week one.
Alongside the job, you'll study part-time toward a funded degree-level qualification (e.g. BSc/BA in Business Technology, Data Science, or a related field) through Skills Development Scotland's Graduate Apprenticeship programme. Fully funded, no student debt, no fees.
What you'll be doing
Mapping existing business processes across procurement, admin, and operations to find where time is being lost
Building and testing AI-assisted workflows (Claude and similar tools) to automate repetitive tasks and reporting
Working with the team to roll out new tools and ways of working, and training colleagues to use them
Tracking the impact of changes: what's actually saving time and money
Bringing a fresh, curious eye to "the way we've always done it"
What we're looking for
Genuine interest in AI tools, automation, or process improvement. A personal project, dissertation, or side hustle using these counts for a lot
Strong problem-solving instincts and comfort with ambiguity. This is a small business, not a corporate grad scheme
Good written and verbal communication. You'll be working across the whole business, not sitting in a back office
Some exposure to data, systems, or business operations (through study, work, or projects) is a plus, but full training will be provided
Right to work in the UK and eligible for a Graduate Apprenticeship in Scotland
No specific degree required. We care more about how you think than what you studied.
What you'll get
A permanent, full-time role with a small business where you'll have real influence from day one
A fully funded degree-level qualification through the Graduate Apprenticeship programme (SDS): earn while you learn, no fees or debt
Direct mentoring from the company's leadership
The chance to shape a role and function that doesn't exist yet at AMP Procurement
How to apply
Send a CV and a short note (no more than half a page) on a process you think could be improved with AI or automation, in your studies, a previous job, or anywhere else, to View email address on s1jobs.com.
We'll also be sharing this role directly with careers services at Strathclyde, Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian, and UWS.
AMP Procurement Ltd is a Glasgow-based procurement business. This role is delivered as a Graduate Apprenticeship in partnership with Skills Development Scotland.
What will I learn? On the job (practical, business facing):
Process mapping and analysis identifying bottlenecks, waste, and manual work worth automating
Applied AI tool use prompting, workflow design, and integration with tools like Claude for reporting, procurement admin, and comms
Basic data handling and reporting (spreadsheets, dashboards, tracking KPIs before/after a change)
Change management getting colleagues to actually adopt a new tool or process, not just build it
Stakeholder communication translating between "what leadership wants" and "what the team on the ground needs"
Project ownership running a small improvement initiative start to finish
What qualifications or qualities are required? You must be at least school leaving age and have left school already.
Right to work in the UK for the duration of the apprenticeship.
Beyond that, it's genuinely about attitude over credentials: it's not just about grades, it's about showing willingness to learn and passion for the subject. For this specific role, evidence of curiosity about AI tools or process problems (a project, a dissertation, even self-taught tinkering) matters more than the grades.
