This role is based within the PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) provision, supporting a small group of pupils aged 5–15 who are working at P1–P3 levels. The successful

Nurture Lead will take responsibility for a small group of learners and play a vital role in leading support staff and ensuring high-quality, consistent provision.

Working Pattern

• Monday to Thursday – Full Days

Key Responsibilities

• Lead support for a small group of 3 pupils as a Nurture Lead within a PMLD setting.
• Work closely with pupils working at P1–P3 levels, supporting their learning, communication, and development.
• As a Nurture Lead, manage and support a small team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), ensuring effective teamwork and consistency.
• Deliver personalised support plans tailored to each pupil’s individual needs.
• Work collaboratively with external professionals, including therapists and specialist teachers.
• Support pupils’ physical, sensory, and communication needs through structured and nurturing approaches.
• Monitor and report on pupil progress and engagement.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures and policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working as a Nurture Lead or in a senior TA role – essential.
• Strong experience supporting pupils with complex SEND, particularly PMLD – essential.
• Experience working with pupils at P1–P3 levels – highly desirable.
• Confidence in leading a small team and supporting colleagues.
• Experience working alongside external professionals such as therapists.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
