Role Overview

This role sits at the heart of the Science Department, supporting the delivery of outstanding practical science learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics . The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive, safety-conscious, and deeply committed to supporting exceptional teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing high-quality practical materials, reagents, and equipment for KS3, GCSE, and A-Level lessons across all science disciplines.

• Maintaining stock levels, organising chemical storage, and ensuring safe disposal of waste in line with CLEAPSS and H&S guidelines.

• Managing the organisation, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory equipment, including microscopes, glassware, electronic measuring devices, and specialist apparatus.

• Supporting teachers with demonstrations, trial experiments, and adapting resources to suit lesson requirements.

• Overseeing the smooth running of prep rooms, ensuring systems are efficient, labelled, and compliant.

• Ensuring all risk assessments, COSHH documentation, and safety protocols are meticulously followed.

• Coordinating with the Head of Science regarding budget planning, servicing schedules, and resource needs.

• Supporting enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, science fairs, competitions, and open evenings.

• Playing a key role in creating an engaging, stimulating, and safe laboratory environment for pupils at all levels.

Experience & Qualifications Required

• Science Technician experience or a strong scientific background (lab experience beneficial)

• Good understanding of lab safety, COSHH, CLEAPSS

• Highly organised, reliable, and detail-oriented

• Confident preparing complex practicals for Chemistry/Physics/Biology

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team

• DBS required (or willingness to complete one)
