Job summary
Applications are invited for a 10 session Specialty Dentist in Paediatric Dentistry in the University Dental Hospital Manchester. We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Dentist to assist with the day-to-day running of our busy department. You will work hard, but will be rewarded with an excellent professional and personal experience.

The successful applicant will join and complement the existing team in this subspecialty area.

Candidates must be eligible for their own GDC registration - MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for candidates who are offered permanent vacancies.

Main duties of the job
The Specialty Dentist will join the paediatric dental Team to undertake the assessment and treatment of children referred to the Department, in the University Dental Hospital of Manchester. Clinical activity in the unit is provided by Specialists and Consultants. This substantive post will meet existing needs within our team.

What is a DBS Check?
A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

• Standard DBS : Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.
• Enhanced DBS : Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police thats considered relevant to the role.
• Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the childrens and/or adults barred lists.

Who Needs a DBS Check

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Qualifications
Essential

• BDS or equivalent qualification
• Full registration with the General Dental Council

Desirable

• PG cert in teaching
• Sedation qualification
• PILS training (training will be given)
• Postgraduate qualifications eg. MJDF, MSc

Experience
Essential

• Experience in a paediatric dental post
• Good paediatric dentistry skills, competent in treating patients under inhalational sedation
• Ability to work independently and manage clinical complications
• Competent in audit and clinical governance

Desirable

• Previous hospital experience

Communication

• Requires excellent communication skills both written and verbal and an ability to communicate well with patients
