Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting Phlebotomists to support an expanding clinical blood collection and sample handling service in Inverurie, Scotland.
We welcome applications from a wide range of healthcare professionals, including Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs), Nurses, Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), and other healthcare staff with proven phlebotomy, venepuncture, and/or cannulation competencies.
This is an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals seeking flexible locum work, competitive hourly pay, and experience across a growing outreach service. The service operates seven days a week from an outreach unit in Inverurie, Scotland , providing a flexible opportunity for experienced healthcare professionals.
Please note this is an outreach role , and applicants must be at least 25 years old and hold a full, clean UK driving licence .
Candidates who already hold a valid PVG or DBS certificate are particularly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Perform venepuncture, cannulation, and blood collection procedures safely and accurately.
Ensure correct patient identification, obtain consent where required, and label specimens accurately.
Handle, prepare, store, and transport clinical specimens in line with established protocols.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control (IPC) and adhere to all health and safety procedures.
Complete clinical documentation and patient records accurately and in a timely manner.
Deliver compassionate, professional, patient-centred care at all times.
Travel between outreach locations as required to support service delivery.
Maintain equipment and clinical areas to the highest standards.
Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team to ensure an efficient and high-quality service. Essential Requirements Previous experience working within a healthcare setting.
Demonstrable competency in phlebotomy, venepuncture, cannulation, and/or blood collection procedures.
Valid and current competency certificate for venepuncture, cannulation, or blood drawing.
Ability to work independently while maintaining high clinical standards.
Strong understanding of patient safety, infection prevention and control, and specimen handling procedures.
Excellent communication and patient care skills.
Must be 25 years of age or over .
Full, clean UK driving licence.
Willingness to work flexibly across a seven-day service. Desirable Requirements Current PVG or DBS certificate.
Background as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Assistant, Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA), Nurse, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), or another healthcare professional with relevant experience.
Experience within hospitals, community healthcare services, pathology laboratories, GP practices, or pharmacy environments.
Familiarity with specimen transport systems and laboratory workflows.
