Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Support pupils individually, in small groups and within whole-class learning activities
- Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities under the direction of teaching staff
- Lead whole-class sessions, including PPA cover where appropriate
- Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress and achievement
- Support pupils' behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion across the school
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support high-quality teaching and learning
- Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
- Work towards achieving the Level 5 Higher Level Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard

Training schedule
- Training will be delivered online by the apprenticeship training provider
- The apprentice will attend regular online training sessions and workshops
- Off-the-job training will be completed during normal working hours in line with apprenticeship requirements
- The apprentice will receive support and mentoring from experienced school staff alongside their formal training
- The apprentice will work towards achieving the Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:

Other requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and complete all safer recruitment pre-employment checks before employment can commence. This includes satisfactory references, identity verification, right to work checks and qualification checks relevant to the role. Applicants should also have previous experience of working in a classroom or educational setting and supporting teaching and learning.
