Job Description
Start here. Grow here.
AECOMs UK&I Water Resources team provides services to a range of public and private sector clients. The team comprises over 100 Engineers and Consultants nationally, delivering projects of varying scales from planning support to local developers, hydraulic modelling projects to support the Environment Agency, to nationally significant multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
The Bristol Water Resources team forms one of AECOM’s UK hubs for delivery of hydraulic modelling, delivering a broad range of flood risk and water resources projects across the UK. We are looking to appoint a Senior Hydrologist to support the continued growth of the team.
You will become a key part of a dynamic, friendly and supportive team located in central Bristol, and will be responsible for leading the technical delivery of flood risk modelling and water management projects across the UK.
We envisage that you will use your experience to develop robust technical approaches for delivery of projects, and to take ownership of delivery to ensure projects are completed to a high standard. You will promote the adoption of best practice, through undertaking quality assurance reviews and providing mentorship to support the development of junior members of the team.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Lead and undertake standalone hydrological studies and support 1D-2D hydraulic modelling commissions to assess fluvial and surface water flooding.
- Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs); Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs); surface water drainage strategies incorporating SuDS and environmental statements.
- Undertake quality assurance of technical work within your area of expertise.
- Nurture and develop graduate team members and junior colleagues.
- Manage client relationships, clarifying expectations, success criteria and outcome measures in order to meet their requirements and deliver successful projects.
- Assist with the preparation of bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives. Why not give our AECOM Water page on LinkedIn a follow to stay updated on the impactful projects we're working on and see firsthand the difference we're making in the industry!
Come grow with us.
Become part of our dynamic Water business, which boasts around 600 experts across the UK & Ireland. Collaborate with top-tier engineers and consultants to deliver a variety of captivating projects, from small initiatives to large-scale ventures, all the way from concept to completion.
At AECOM, you’ll thrive in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment where your contributions are valued - and let's not forget about the perks! You'll enjoy a range of core and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being, customised to fit your lifestyle. Take advantage of career development opportunities, technical practice networks, AECOM University, volunteering days and our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle. - Extensive experience in the use of GIS software including QGIS, ArcGIS and MapInfo.
