Reporting to the Equipment Technician Manager, this challenging 2 year programme gives the opportunity to work at the forefront of technology and you will be required to train with and support the existing Engineering Specialists on a wide variety of technical skills. The Apprentice Engineering Specialist will be supported and mentored, gaining training in and exposure of the tasks and responsibilities detailed, reflective of an Equipment Engineering Specialist. Modules you will undertake at Northwest Regional College are- Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing CAD CAM, Material Properties & Testing, Quality & Process Improvements, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Design and Managing a Professional Engineering Project. Engineering General Level 4 Higher Level Apprenticeship North West Regional College About the role, you will: Successful candidates will be employed by Seagate to gain valuable experience in our thriving global manufacturing business while studying for a General Engineering Level 4 course with no fees or costs associated with higher education. Throughout the two years you’ll develop invaluable skills in all elements of engineering, supported by close mentorship and academic guidance from North West Regional College. The hourly rate of pay that is offered for this role is £13.85 per hour / annual compensation paid is £28,087.80 per year.

Responsibilities

• Participate in studies one day a week and earn while you learn.
• Complete HNC General Engineering (Level 4) over 2 years at North West Regional College. Complete NVQ Level 2 qualifications in Engineering (over 2 years). Learn new technical skills to increase knowledge and ability in equipment maintenance.
• Assist in the completion of preventative maintenance as scheduled on assigned equipment. Assist in fault-finding and repair of unscheduled downs.
• Comply with health and safety policy and procedures. Coached & mentored by a wide variety of highly skilled, diverse, and experienced people. Be part of a high-performing team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Applicants must have: UK: 32 UCAS points at GCE A Level with at least one pass in a related discipline, plus pass in GCSE mathematics (or equivalent) OR a BTEC level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline.
• ROI: An Irish Leaving Certificate equivalent to 32 UCAS points (to include mathematics at C3). Contracts of employment will only be honored if you meet the 32 UCAS points
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience or interest in Engineering/Maintenance with desire to work in Engineering in a world class industry. You must be over 18 years of age by 1st September 2026.

Desirable Skills

• You might also have: Engineering experience or Engineering Qualification (level 3).

Induction at NWRC staring Tuesday, 1st September 2026) Having successfully completed the 2 year development programme, candidates will move into a full time Shift Equipment Engineering Specialist role. You will be working a rotating 12-hours shift pattern. This will include days and night working, (working days include: - 4 nights on 4 days off, 2 days on 2 days off, 3 days on 3 days off, 3 nights on 3 days off, 2 days on 2 days off).
