Access Wellbeing: Benefits & Entitlements Advisor (Part - Time, 10 hours per week £26,145.05 - £27,391.31 per annum, pro rata)

BCHA are working with Dorset Healthcare to deliver wellbeing hubs, across BCP. This is part of the universal offer of wellbeing support, an element of the mental health transformation programme for adults. The hubs will support people to take the steps that matter to them, by connecting them to what they might need, at the right time and in the right place, ultimately empowering people to make their own choices and moving towards full citizenship within their communities. Citizenship in this context means having a voice, a sense of belonging, purpose, identity and equal access to the rights and opportunities that should be available to all.

Position:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Benefits & Entitlements Advisor to join our Access Wellbeing team across BCP. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialist advice, guidance and practical support to individuals facing barriers to accessing benefits, helping them improve their financial wellbeing and independence.

As a Benefits & Entitlements Advisor, you will provide one-to-one support to individuals requiring assistance with benefits and welfare entitlements, with a particular focus on disability-related benefits such as PIP. Working as part of a multidisciplinary wellbeing team, you will empower people to understand their options, navigate complex systems and confidently access the support available to them.

You will support customers throughout the benefits journey, from initial applications and evidence gathering through to assessments, decisions and appeals where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice and guidance on welfare benefits, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and other disability-related benefits.
• Support customers to understand eligibility criteria, application processes and evidence requirements.
• Assist with completing benefit application forms and preparing supporting documentation.
• Help individuals identify, obtain and present relevant evidence to strengthen applications.
• Provide practical support and guidance before, during and after benefit assessments.
• Explain benefit decisions and help customers understand their options following outcomes.
• Build positive relationships with benefits providers, statutory services and specialist partner organisations.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all support is delivered in line with organisational policies and data protection requirements.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary wellbeing team to achieve positive outcomes for customers.

Requirements:

Knowledgeable about welfare benefits, particularly PIP and disability-related benefits.

Experienced in providing advice, advocacy or support to vulnerable individuals.

Confident in explaining complex information in a clear and accessible way.

Empathetic, patient and committed to delivering person-centred support.

Organised, with strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.

Able to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues and external agencies.

Skilled in supporting individuals to build confidence and overcome barriers.
