Subspecialist Trainee Fellow in Gynaecological Oncology
£56.93k - £80.73k per annumTemporary
Job summary
We are hoping to appoint a subspecialist fellow in Gynaecological Oncology to work within the University Hospital of Wales Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department in an RCOG accredited training role. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainee to undertake advanced subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board's ESGO-accredited training centre. Based primarily at the University Hospital of Wales, the post offers comprehensive exposure to the full spectrum of gynaecological cancer care within a high-volume tertiary referral service managing over 400 new cancers annually. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team of gynaecological oncologists within a highly regarded multidisciplinary programme, gaining extensive experience in complex cancer surgery, oncology clinics, colposcopy, multidisciplinary decision-making and perioperative care. Dedicated educational time, structured mentorship, research and quality improvement opportunities, and access to nationally recognised training programmes will support the development of both clinical and surgical expertise. In addition, participation in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call rota will ensure maintenance of broader specialist skills, making this an ideal post for trainees seeking a future consultant career in Gynaecological Oncology. Main duties of the job
The post-holder will participate in a 3-tier on-call rota, typically allocated to the third-tier (3rd on-call) level. Adjustment of the allocated rota tier may be considered depending on the candidate's prior experience and service needs. Please note that both the on-call frequency and specific tier assignments remain flexible and subject to ongoing departmental and service needs. The post will therefore have flexible banding payment depending on the on-call frequency being worked. Changes to the on-call frequency will be communicated in writing 6 weeks prior to the change. The successful candidates will attend and contribute to the weekly postgraduate teaching programme, audit and research activities within the department in addition to providing clinical care. They will also be involved in delivering undergraduate medical education. About us
