Following on from our Surgical Hub Accreditation and ongoing commitment to providing great patient care, we have a fantastic opportunity for an eager Band 5 nurse to join the Day Surgery team at Wycombe Hospital. We are currently seeking high calibre staff nurses, who are keen, passionate and motivated individuals to join our busy unit which provides a high standard of patient care and values the 'personal touch' to create the best environment for the patient journey The current working pattern is Monday - Friday , no night duties, with the opportunity to work additional Saturday shifts. The Day Surgery unit cares for patient having multiple procedures that take place on the day which include: General Surgery, Urology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, ENT, and Plastics. We are a supportive learning environment and our Ward Sister is keen to develop the teams from within, so training and professional development is encouraged and supported. Main duties of the job

- Acts at all times in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct / Health Professional Council.
- Supervises the work of the nursing / anaesthetic team, ensuring individual programmes of care are formulated according to patient needs and current research/guidelines.
- Delivers planned care safely and effectively taking into account the views of the patient and their relatives.Anticipate and respond to the needs of a wide range of patients (including paediatrics and those with special needs), their relatives or carers if accompanying patient to theatre, in a highly sensitive and empathetic manner.
- Recognise, resolve or take appropriate action in situations that may be detrimental to the health and well-being of patients and colleagues.
- Recognise the significance of the observations made on the patient's vital signs and use these to develop an initial patient assessment.
- Carry out those activities involved when conducting the comprehensive assessment of a person's nursing requirements to include psychological, physiological, cardiovascular, neurological care and to ensure safe handover of care.
