1:1 Learning Support Assistant

Hillmead Primary School is a warm, inclusive and nurturing community where we Include, Inspire and Empower every child to thrive. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a child with additional needs in our school.

This is a 32.5 hour per week, fixed‑term contract , linked to the needs of the child while they are at Hillmead School, and is suitable for someone who is patient, resilient and committed to making a meaningful difference.

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider staff team to provide individualised support for a child with additional needs. This may include:

• Supporting learning activities in class

• Implementing personalised strategies to help the child access the curriculum

• Providing emotional regulation support

• Using positive behaviour approaches

• Working collaboratively with staff and external professionals

The role requires someone who can work independently, use their initiative, and also respond positively to direction from teachers and leaders.

Experience supporting children with SEND is desirable but not essential — the right personal qualities matter most.
