Support Worker

As a Support Worker (Waking Nights) at Threshold Edinburgh, you’ll be part of the night team providing consistent, person-centred support throughout the night.

You’ll help ensure the people we support feel safe, comfortable and respected in their home, responding to individual needs while promoting independence, choice and dignity. You’ll work as part of a rotational night shift pattern covering both weekdays and weekends, with shifts running from 21:30 to 07:30.

What your night will look like

* Providing support and care throughout the night in line with individual support plans
* Responding to the needs of the people we support and offering reassurance when required
* Supporting individuals with personal care, health and wellbeing needs
* Promoting independence, choice, dignity and respect
* Monitoring the safety and security of the service throughout the night
* Responding appropriately to emergencies or changes in an individual’s needs
* Completing accurate records and relevant documentation
* Carrying out agreed night-time tasks to support the smooth running of the service
* Communicating important information to colleagues as part of a clear handover
* Working closely with the wider team to provide consistent, high-quality support

About you

You’ll be someone who can bring patience, empathy and good judgement to the night team, with the confidence to respond calmly when situations change. You’ll understand the importance of providing person-centred support while respecting each individual’s choices, independence and dignity. Previous experience in a care or support setting would be an advantage, but it is not essential. You’ll need basic computer skills to complete records and mandatory e-learning, and ideally you’ll hold an SVQ Level 3 qualification. You’ll also need to be a member of the PVG Scheme and registered with the SSSC, meeting the standards required for your registration. As we do our work in Christ’s name, you’ll need to be respectful of our Christian ethos and able to work within it.
