You’ll become part of a collaborative, forward-thinking service that is central to the Council’s digital transformation.

Flexible working options are available—whether you prefer working from home, a hybrid setup, or being office-based.  However, you should be prepared to work onsite at our Perth headquarters or other council locations as needed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the full lifecycle of business applications, including design, implementation, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning, aligned with technical standards.
  • Contribute to procurement and renewal processes, providing technical input and helping define and refine application requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, covering system diagrams, troubleshooting, upgrade procedures, best practices, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Identify and address security vulnerabilities, ensuring business applications comply with security policies and supporting incident investigations.
  • Provide technical support for SQL Server and Oracle databases, including licensing, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Collaborate across teams, maintaining accurate asset configurations and contributing to lifecycle planning and risk assessments.

Skills & Experience Required

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for an engineer who is:

  • Qualified or experienced : Holds an HND or higher in a relevant field or demonstrates substantial hands-on IT experience.
  • Security-aware : Understands security frameworks and compliance standards and applies them effectively.
  • A strong communicator : Able to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Organised and self-motivated : Can manage multiple priorities, plan effectively, and deliver structured outcomes.
  • Collaborative and professional : Works well in multidisciplinary teams, engaging stakeholders with professionalism and confidence.
  • A Project Manager : Demonstrates the ability to lead or contribute to complex projects using project management principles.
  • Technically curious : Embraces challenges and supports innovation across the organisation.

Additional Information

  • You’ll be based at Carpenter House, Perth, with an option to work from home depending on service requirement.
