Events Manager

£15.7 - £18 per hourEstimated
Full-time

Your mission

Role
This is a full time role based in London, with some support for our Berlin portfolio and reports to the Operations Director.

Description
We are looking for a full time Events Manager to lead the Techspace Events team across our London portfolio with oversight extending to our Berlin portfolio. You will be accountable for the growth and profitability of our Event Venue product across both markets, owning the delivery of events strategy, annual budgeting, and pricing framework, while managing the Events Team to deliver it day to day. In London, your team handles both the sales pipeline and on-the-ground delivery; in Berlin, enquiries are centralised through your team while our on-site Community team continues to deliver events locally. Across both markets, you set the direction, hold the commercial decisions, and ensure sales and delivery work together seamlessly, from first enquiry through to a client walking through the door, bringing consistency and continuity even where each market currently operates differently.

Hospitality is at the heart of what we do, and while this is a leadership role, it's a hands-on one: you'll be closely involved in our highest-value and most complex events, our largest spaces, new venue launches, and strategic agency relationships, while trusting your team with the rest. An exceptional Events Manager can hold both the detail and the bigger picture at once, managing the expectations of clients, agencies, suppliers, and your own team simultaneously, while staying focused on what actually grows the business rather than just what keeps it busy. Strong commercial judgement, natural leadership, and the ability to coach a small team toward genuine ownership of their roles are all essential. You'll be given real autonomy to shape how the events business grows, alongside the accountability that comes with it.

Role specifics
As Events Manager, you own the strategic and commercial direction of the Techspace Events business, while managing the team who execute it day to day. You will have cross functional responsibilities while being accountable for developing and delivering our annual events strategy and hitting budget, and ensuring your team has the guardrails, support, and coaching they need to excel in their roles. .

  • Revenue Ownership - You'll ensure events meet or exceed budgeted income, consistently seeking incremental improvement, and hold ultimate accountability for pipeline health, stepping in on high-value, complex, or new-venue bookings your team escalates to you.
  • Strategy and Pricing - You'll set the annual events strategy and budget, and own our pricing framework, including minimum spend thresholds, structures, and discount guardrails. Your team works within the boundaries you set; you're accountable for getting those boundaries right.
  • Team Management - You'll manage the performance and development of the Events Team, setting their OKRs, running their rota and coverage across our locations, and making the staffing decisions that keep every event properly resourced.
  • Hospitality Standards - You'll set and uphold the hospitality standard our clients and members experience across every venue, coaching your team to deliver it consistently rather than just checking it after the fact. You understand that this is commercial, not just cultural: exceptional delivery is what turns a first booking into a repeat client and protects the brand as the portfolio grows.
  • Commercial Sign-Off - You'll review and approve high-value or non-standard contracts your team raises, and act as the final escalation point for anything your Events Associates can't resolve directly, including any unresolved client payments.
  • Portfolio growth - You'll track performance across all venues and lead the operational set up and launch of new sites as the portfolio grows, proving out the commercial case for each investment so every new site sets the business up for long-term success rather than just adding square footage.
  • Strategic Partnerships - You'll own our most important agency and broker relationships directly, while your Event Sales Associate manages day-to-day platform activity and mid-tier accounts. You'll decide which partnerships are worth deepening and represent Techspace at an industry level.
  • Marketing Partnership - You'll work closely with Marketing to shape targeted lead generation and retargeting campaigns, and bring a genuine understanding of the London events market to inform how our portfolio and offering are positioned, knowing which spaces suit which markets so our brand and messaging reflect real commercial intent across the events journey.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - You'll build strong working relationships with Community and Finance, keeping processes aligned and ensuring events integrate smoothly with the wider buildings and business operations.
  • Reporting and Analysis - You'll own monthly and quarterly reporting to stakeholders, keep a close eye on competitor activity in the London events market, and use data to guide where the team focuses next.

Your profile

Must haves…

  • Commercially Minded - You think in terms of budget, margin, and long-term value, not just filling the calendar. You're comfortable making pricing and investment calls, and you take real accountability for the numbers your team delivers.
  • Hospitality Led - You believe exceptional hospitality is a commercial advantage, not just a nice-to-have, and you hold your team to that same standard. You know the difference between an event that was delivered and one that was genuinely memorable, and you care which one you're running.
  • A Genuine Coach - You get real satisfaction from developing people, not just managing tasks. You give your team the guardrails and support to make good decisions themselves, rather than making every call for them.
  • Accountable - You take ownership of outcomes, not just effort. When something goes wrong, you're the first to own it and fix it, not the last to find out about it.
  • Keen & Eager - You are a self motivator, who is always looking to push themselves and those around them. No job is too big or too small and you are happy to give anything a go.
  • Friendly - You are a natural people-person. That does not mean you are always the loudest and most extroverted, but people gravitate towards you and feel comfortable in your presence.
  • Caring - In a role where you are so central to the community, a real sense of empathy and care is essential. You consider how your words and actions impact those around you, whether that's a client, a partner, or your own team.
  • Strong Listener - Actively listening to clients, partners, and your own team, is a vital skill for this role. Listening with intention, delving deeper, and turning feedback into solutions is how you build trust and make good decisions.
You'll fit right in if you...
  • Move naturally between big-picture strategy and hands-on detail, rather than staying fixed in one mode
  • Care as much about getting the fundamentals right as you do about the end result
  • Hold yourself and others to a high standard, and notice when something's slipping before anyone has to tell you
  • Get energy from shaping an evolving environment over maintaining a finished system
  • Take ownership of problems and see them through, rather than waiting to be told exactly what to do
It's probably not the right fit if you...
  • Want to work mostly remotely or asynchronously, or in a a role with a consistent, predictable rhythm week to week, without periods of intensity
  • Want a role focused purely on sales or purely on delivery, rather than owning how the two work together
  • Are only interested in the numbers, without wanting to understand the market or client behind them
  • Prefer an established environment where the answers are already written down
  • Prefer being handed clear, defined tasks rather than spotting what needs doing yourself

Why us?

Our Values
Here are the values we care most about. Not only are they behaviours that best represent our team culture, but this also extends to new members and partners we intend to work alongside.

  • We Are Open - we create environments that support openness and honesty. We listen to each other, challenge, support, and always assume positive intent.
  • We Care - we care deeply about our fellow Techspacers, about serving our members and about our impact on the world.
  • We Move At Thoughtful Pace - we have a bias for action and being decisive. We trust each other to take risks and we learn from our mistakes.
  • We Strive to Improve - we are ambitious, stretching ourselves to innovate and always do better.
  • We Seek Balance - we choose fun and fairness, and support each other to find our balance.
