Financial Controller

Job Description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing Thirsk-based business seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function.This is a key leadership role within the organisation, offering the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making while maintaining responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business.The successful candidate will thrive in a hands-on environment, providing accurate financial information, driving process improvements and supporting the continued growth of the company.Responsibilities:Oversee all financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and financial reportingPrepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and reportsManage cash flow, budgeting and forecasting activities to support business performanceDevelop, implement and maintain robust financial controls, procedures and policiesPartner with departmental managers to analyse financial performance and support decision-makingEnsure compliance with relevant tax legislation and oversee tax submissionsAct as the primary contact for external auditors and coordinate annual audit processesMonitor developments in financial regulations and accounting standards, ensuring ongoing complianceProvide financial insight and recommendations to support strategic business objectivesYour experience:To be successful in this role, you will have:A recognised accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA)Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance positionStrong knowledge of financial reporting, controls and compliance requirementsExperience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar ERP systemsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detailThe ability to communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholdersPrior experience working in an SME environmentA proactive and hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a leadership teamFor further information or a confidential discussion regarding this opportunity, please contact Nicola at Si Recruitment.TPBN1_UKTJ
