Teacher of Drum Kit

Terrington Hall School is a welcoming and supportive independent school located in North Yorkshire, committed to providing an excellent education and encouraging all pupils to develop their talents. We are currently seeking a Peripatetic Drum Kit Teacher to join our team.

Hours:

Part time, term time only – ideally all-day Wednesdays

Part-time peripatetic teachers are regarded as self-employed, engaged through a Consultancy Agreement and are free to set own rates

Job Purpose:

To provide inspiring and high-quality drum kit teaching to pupils across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role supported by relevant qualifications to deliver inspiring music provision to pupils, aged 5-13 and will be a confident performer with a passion for putting students’ performance experiences first.

Initially there will be up to 1 day of teaching (preferably Wednesday) or the possibility to deliver teaching across 2 half days.

Music has a high profile within the School, and all pupils in Pre-Prep, Lower Prep and Upper Prep take part in regular public performances. Where we seek to stretch the most talented to the full, we also aim to encourage every pupil in the School to enjoy music and take its study to their own level. It is important that the person appointed can teach pupils who are of average ability with enthusiasm, as well as the highfliers.

In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child-related. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.

Person Specification The successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential Skills Qualifications/Experience.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role supported by relevant qualifications to deliver excellent teaching provision to students aged 5 and upwards.

Knowledge & Skills

• An appropriate and recognised qualification

• An understanding of a variety of learning profiles

• An ability to adapt support to a variety of age groups

• Excellent verbal and communication skills

Personal Qualities

• Friendly, calm and approachable with a willingness to share ideas and offer support to our school community

• Compassionate and warm hearted with the ability to work as part of a busy team

Safeguarding and welfare of children

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact with, will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the Schools’ Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the role holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, they must report any concerns to the School’s DSL or the Headteacher.
