Teacher of Maths - Maternity Cover

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of Maths for a fixed term Maternity cover starting in September 2025 for 6 months initially and potentially up to a year. The successful applicant would join a committed, collaborative and friendly team.

Nicholas Breakspear is a vibrant, nurturing and ambitious school. Situated on the outskirts of St Albans the school benefits from large spacious grounds and close links to London. This role provides an excellent opportunity for someone to join a school which values inclusivity and kindness and which allows children to flourish and grow in confidence. The 2024 GCSE results place the school in the top 7% of schools nationally.

Our Maths Department is passionate about nurturing our students and our superb results are a testament to the love of Mathematics which our friendly team creates.

Maths is very popular at KS5 with over 100 students studying Maths and Further Maths at A Level or Core Maths. The department has excellent structures and routines to allow staff to teach well promoting problem solving and links to how maths is used in the wider world. Maths classes are taught in sets for Y7 to Y11.

Department time is regularly used for our teachers to share best practice and be informed of the latest educational research and ideas. Staff are also encouraged to attend CPD courses with our local maths hub and the AMSP. The Department has subscriptions to Sparx for homework up to KS4, Uplearn at KS5 as well as goteachmaths and mathsbox for additional resources.

Nicholas Breakspear is a member of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust (DOWAT). We work together with the other schools in the trust to share best practice and to promote the development of staff and students.
