We’re Hiring: Lead Character Animator (UK-Based, Remote)

Triggerfish is on the lookout for an experienced Lead Character Animator to head up our animation team for an exciting upcoming CG animated short film . This is a key creative leadership role where you’ll guide the animation team in crafting expressive, story-driven character performances that bring our world and characters to life.
About the Role:
As the Lead Character Animator , you’ll work closely with the Animation Director to define the animation style, establish quality benchmarks, and refine workflow standards. You’ll be responsible for elevating the team’s output — ensuring every movement, gesture, and performance resonates with emotion and storytelling purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of animators, fostering both artistic growth and technical excellence.
- Collaborate with the Animation Director to establish the overall animation style and visual tone.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on shots to maintain consistency and quality.
- Set up workflows, best practices, and creative standards for the animation team.
- Ensure performances are emotionally compelling, visually appealing, and aligned with the film’s vision.
- Work collaboratively with other departments (rigging, layout, lighting) to ensure seamless production.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Lead Animator or Senior Animator on CG projects.
- Strong grasp of acting, body mechanics, timing, and emotional storytelling through animation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and mentorship skills.
- Ability to work remotely while maintaining strong team coordination.
