Location: Caldicot
Pay: £12.99 per hour
Hours: 42 hours per week, (Nights)

Grade: Site Based

Purpose: To provide a security service at the working location in line with the Assignment Instructions and customer requirements in order to protect the customer’s employees, property, and other assets. The Security Officer will support the delivery of this service effectively.

To deliver the highest levels of customer service which consistently demonstrates Securitas’ core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness. The Security Officer must uphold these standards at all times. (NB: the prospective Security Officer must have acquired the full SIA licence before being able to start work on operational shifts as a Security Officer .)

Key Requirements

• Valid SIA Licence (required).
• First Aid qualification (required).
• Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the security industry.
• Right to work in the UK.
• 5-year checkable work history.
• Willing to undertake a fire safety course provided by the company.
• Reasonable commuting distance to the site.
• Good organisational skills.
• Reliable and customer-focused with a commitment to delivering exemplary service.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety and security patrols of the premises.
• Ensure compliance with all site regulations, procedures, and assignment instructions.
• Support emergency procedures, including evacuations and site searches.
• Maintain vigilance at all times, report incidents promptly, and prevent disruption.
• Accurately maintain records of all activities, incidents, and shift handovers.

Job Description

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

Protection of Property and Premises

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site. Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV as appropriate. The Security Officer will ensure all monitoring is carried out effectively.
• Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
• Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions as required.
• Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate.
• Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
• Ensure any equipment provided by the customer and Securitas is managed in accordance with procedures detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
• Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
• Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions. The Security Officer will maintain accurate records of all passes issued.
• Deal with lost property in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.

Health and Safety

• Provide support, guidance, and information to all staff, visitors, and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times. Record and report all faults, health and safety hazards, and unsafe working practices to supervisor/manager. Report and record all accidents in accordance with the Assignment Instructions. The Security Officer must ensure compliance at all times.
• Ensure all walkways and emergency escape routes are always kept clear.
• Report any usage of First Aid equipment and shortfalls in the contents of First Aid boxes.
• Notify the Securitas Operations Centre (SOC) in the event of any emergencies and follow the instructions given.
• Investigate the cause of all fire alarm activations.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:

• Must be working towards acquiring a valid SIA Licence to work as a Security Officer.
• Must have the right to work in the UK.
• Must be over 18.
• Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken.
• Have a five-year checkable employment history or be able to produce documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, self-employment, or full and part-time education during that period.
• No current criminal convictions.
• A full UK driving licence and own transport is desirable.
• The ability to embody and uphold the Securitas core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness as a Security Officer .
• Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.
• Be able to work independently as well as part of a team in the role of Security Officer .
• Be punctual and reliable.
• Be willing and able to work shifts covering days, nights, and weekends.

Desirable

• Prior experience as a Security Officer in the Security industry is desirable.
• A First Aid qualification would be advantageous.
