The Role

A progressive Secondary Academy in Oxford is seeking a professional, highly creative, and exceptionally organised Music Teacher to join their vibrant Performing Arts faculty. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic educator who excels at combining traditional musicology with contemporary composition and digital audio workstation (DAW) software tools.

The successful candidate will teach a diverse timetable spanning Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include instructing core music theory, historical genre studies, and ensemble performance metrics at GCSE, alongside advanced composition, listening analysis, and digital performance modules for A-Level specifications. Beyond classroom lessons, you will manage instrumental tutor schedules, run active extracurricular ensembles (choirs, concert bands, and technology clubs), and coordinate a busy seasonal calendar of live school performances and regional showcase events.

A collaborative, supportive approach is vital for running a thriving musical community. Strong administrative skills are essential for managing student portfolios, coordinating exam board submissions, and maintaining clear records on the central school database.

Requirements

• A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a relevant degree in Music or a related performing arts discipline

• Proven experience planning and delivering Music specifications up to GCSE and A-Level

• Strong practical musicianship, with the ability to lead, accompany, or conduct student ensembles

• Confident IT literacy, with experience utilizing digital score editors and audio production software (DAWs)

• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a proactive approach to managing extra-curricular events
