Registered Veterinary Nurse

£33k per annum

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Gordon Vets on a full-time basis.

We are a well-established 3-branch small animal clinic on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We have 132nurses working across our 3 branch surgeries, 16 vets and 1 VCA. Both our Musselburgh and Penicuik sites are nurse training practices.

Our practices are well-equipped with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound (including echo) and in-house lab. We offer laparoscopic spays, endoscopy and orthopaedic surgeries at our main surgery in Musselburgh. Client and patient care are our main focus and we do that by offering a friendly and supportive environment to work in.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern

  • 40 hours per week
  • Working 4 days per week
  • 1 in 5 weekend rota
  • No out of hours

General Responsibilities

  • Patient care post op and day hospitalisation
  • General anaesthetic and sedation preparation and monitoring
  • Surgical prep of operation rooms and patients
  • Laboratory duties
  • Infection control
  • Care and maintenance of equipment
  • Nurse consultations

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
