Quantitative Research Assistant

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support an innovative research project which explores the relationship between foreign aid and local skills in developing countries. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the econometric analysis of panel data to explore the impact of aid in developing countries.

The research assistant will report to the Principal Investigator, Dr Jamelia Harris.

Duties and responsibilities

•    Prepare quantitative data for analysis, including necessary cleaning and variable construction 

•    Suggest various models and estimation strategies to explore the relationship between aid and skills

•    Conduct regression analysis, diagnostic and specification testing, and report on the main findings 

•    Contribute to the literature review on aid and skills in developing countries, specifically the methodology section

•    With the PI, draft a summary report detailing the main findings

Document research procedures and maintain organised research records

Skills and experience

Essential

•    Master's level qualification in Economics, with a strong background in econometrics

•    Experience working with panel data and casual estimation 

•    Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment

•    Excellent organisational skills, with ability to meet research deadlines

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable 

Knowledge or experience in international development/development studies
