What you'll do at work
Year one:
- Learn the NetSuite platform: records, roles and permissions, saved searches, reports and standard financial and operational processes
- Build and test simple customisations - saved searches, workflows, custom fields, forms and dashboards - to a written specification, with your work reviewed before it leaves the team
- Write your first SuiteScript 2.x scripts and SuiteQL queries under supervision
- Pick up and resolve straightforward tickets from our managed services support queue in Jira, keeping worklogs and ticket notes up to date
- Learn our delivery standards: version control, code review, sandbox-first development and the difference between sandbox and production
- Shadow consultants on customer calls to understand how requirements become solutions
Years two and three:
- Develop and unit test SuiteScript 2.x customisations (user event, client, Suitelet, scheduled and map / reduce scripts) against agreed specifications
- Build and maintain Celigo integration flows between NetSuite and third-party applications, including error handling and monitoring
- Use SuiteCloud Development Framework (SDF) to package and deploy changes through our environments
- Write and maintain technical documentation, unit test scripts and deployment notes
- Investigate and fix defects across NetSuite configuration, scripting and integrations, escalating appropriately
- Contribute to estimates and technical design discussions for customer change requests
- Work towards NetSuite certification (SuiteFoundation, then Administrator or SuiteCloud Developer)
Final year:
- Own discrete development workstreams end to end, from specification through build, test and deployment
- Take part in code reviews as a reviewer as well as an author
- Work directly with customers on technical clarifications and demonstrations, supported by your consultant or project manager
- Complete your end-point assessment, including the work-based project, drawing on GLE delivery work agreed in advance with your manager and the college
Essential requirements:
- Demonstrable interest in software development or business systems
- Logical, methodical approach to problem solving, and the persistence to keep going when the first three attempts do not work
- Clear written and spoken English - you will write notes that customers read
- Attention to detail: our work touches customers' financial records, so precision matters more than speed
Desirable requirements:
- Any exposure to programming, particularly JavaScript
- Any exposure to SQL or relational database concepts
- A-level or BTEC Level 3 in Computer Science, IT, Maths or a related subject
- Basic understanding of what an ERP system does, or of business processes such as order to cash or procure to pay
