Children's Services Administrator - Level 1

£13.63k - £13.85k per annum
Part-time

The job itself

An exciting, fixed term opportunity has arisen for an experienced, self-motivated and confident individual to join the busy Business Support team at Hornsea Family Hub.

The post presents a unique opportunity to join an ambitious service in a key role working towards delivering high-quality services for children, young people, and their families. The Family Help service provides additional support to children, young people, and families. This may be whole family support, addressing the individual needs of children and young people or providing advice and more general support through telephone or group-based activities. The service is based across the East Riding with teams based in Family Hubs or centrally in County Hall, Beverley. This post is being advertised on a fixed term basis due to a pending reorganisation and is office-based.

The successful candidate will be engaging and committed to providing a quality service, have a flexible approach and the ability to adapt to a changing environment. To undertake this role, you need to be customer focused, able to work easily within a challenging environment, have excellent administrative and organisational skills and have the motivation and desire to achieve a high-quality service. You should be able to demonstrate effective use of a range of ICT systems/software packages. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential as this role is often the first point of contact for parents, professionals, and the public. A high level of customer service is required as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive material. Teamwork plays a vital role alongside working on your own initiative to meet deadlines.

Day to day work can be varied but will mainly be around administrative support. Main tasks include covering reception, dealing with queries in person and via phone or email, welcoming families and professionals visiting the Hub, processing room bookings, entering data onto the in-house systems, updating spreadsheets, minute taking and fulfilling postal requirements. There is also a financial aspect within this post in which orders need to be raised, goods receipted and invoices processed.

The practitioners we support at the Family Hub assist families from pre-birth to 25 years providing a range of services. The East Riding has 16 Hubs that offer a range of activities and services for children and their families to give every child the best start in life. We offer the right help at the right time so that families feel supported, confident, safe, healthy, and happy.

This is a rewarding role in which you will see children's progress through the work of the teams around you, and we want the right candidate to be a part of that team. This is a great opportunity to have an insight into the service area and the invaluable support we provide for families in the East Riding. The role is for 18.5 hours per week.
