Salary: £30,000 per annum Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon – Fri, occasional weekend when required) Job Type: Permanent/Fixed Term Shortlisting: TBC Interview: TBC Why this role would be great for youWe are seeking a compassionate and motivated Children’s Worker to support children and young people living in our Safe Accommodation service, families fleeing domestic abuse. This role is central to ensuring children’s safety, emotional wellbeing, and development during a period of significant change and trauma. You will provide trauma-informed, child-centred support — creating a safe and nurturing environment where children feel heard, valued, and supported. You will plan and deliver individual and group activities, offer emotional support, and advocate for the needs of children within the wider service. All Children’s workers will undergo Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Skills Training and training in Trauma-Informed Care. These approaches will equip you to understand and work effectively with children affected by Domestic abuse. Children’s workers will be skilled in delivering a range of interventions for children to build strength, enhance resilience and encourage progress. The post holder will be responsible for providing key work support to a small caseload of children and will have the primary role of providing and co-coordinating support interventions and multi-agency activity. Working as part of the daytime Support Team
Ensuring each child will receive personalised support considering their identified risks and personal needs
Engaging with schools and other education providers to provide a safe space to complete support sessions.
Providing a safe, welcoming environment with excellent standards and an ethos of service delivery that encourages all service users to engage with support on offer
To respond to emergency referrals and/or situations.

EXPERIENCE – Experience of working with children and families who have experienced domestic abuse/sexual violence
Experience of working 1-2-1 with children
Experience of Children’s Safeguarding
Experience of supporting people in a work environment
Experience of partnership working
Experience of formulating risk assessments
Working experience of maintaining up to date electronic records and calendars
KNOWLEDGE – A working knowledge of providing support
A working knowledge of Health & Safety issues
A clear understanding of complex needs support issues such as mental health, homelessness, substance misuse and offending
Knowledge of safeguarding protocols
Understanding of how to deal with challenging and chaotic individuals
COMMUNICATION – Excellent communication, engagement and interpersonal skills
Excellent administration skills

What is a nice to have
NVQ/L2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
Experience of working within a psychologically informed working environment
Knowledge of housing management and IT databases
Awareness of benefits and how they work including Universal Credit and other welfare systems
Knowledge of the Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)
Analytical, data collation and reporting skills
