Salary: £23,000 – £26,500 per annum (depending on experience)

About the School:
We are partnering with an outstanding comprehensive school in Bury St Edmunds that requires an efficient and dedicated Caretaker to join their facilities operation. This school values its support staff immensely and provides all the tools, resources, and uniform required to deliver an exemplary service across the school estate.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the opening and unlocking procedures in the morning or locking and securing the site in the evening (split-shift pattern).
Identify, log, and repair defects across the campus, including fixtures, fittings, doors, and fences.
Conduct regular statutory safety compliance tests (Legionella checks, fire door inspections, emergency lighting logs).
Work collaboratively with the cleaning team and Premises Manager to ensure cleanliness and waste disposal are handled efficiently.
Support whole-school events and adapt flexibly to changing daily priorities.
Requirements:
Previous background in site caretaking, construction, property maintenance, or corporate facility management.
Comfortable reading technical logs or using basic computer systems for logging site maintenance requests.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to handle minor emergency repairs.
Exceptional reliability, time management, and a strong work ethic.
