Tech & Ecommerce Reporter

Role summary:

Join our fast-paced London newsroom as a Tech & Ecommerce Reporter, a unique opportunity to advance your career at the fastest growing news website in the UK and United States.

You’ll be tasked with covering the latest developments in consumer technology, publish a mixture of breaking news stories, in-depth features, and reviews on the latest must-have gadgets. As Tech & Ecommerce Reporter, you’ll also need to curate buying guides and deal round-ups to help readers and viewers secure the best deals on their latest purchase.

GB News is looking for someone with proven journalism experience, ideally writing about consumer technology or ecommerce. A genuine passion about the latest gadgets, trends, and services is preferred — with the ability to communicate that knowledge in concise, engaging copy. A burgeoning contacts book of relevant PR and brand managers would be preferred.

Applicants must be flexible and willing to work across a seven-day rota on a variety of shifts. For the right candidate, this role will include opportunities to travel to events as well as film exclusive video content for the website, television, and socials.

Key responsibilities and main tasks:

▪Reporting and Writing:

o Write clear, accurate, and engaging news articles on a variety of tech topics across — from phones to full-fibre broadband, video doorbells to robot vacuum cleaners — adhering to journalistic standards, deadlines, and the GB News Editorial Charter.

o Research and pitch exclusive stories that ensures GBN Tech stays ahead of the curve and delights readers with fresh insights.

o Help to manage and update a growing list of buyer’s guides, reviews, and “best of” lists, crafting compelling headlines and evergreen content to maximise engagement and ensure our readers always have the most up-to-date information.

▪Ecommerce & Monetisation:

o Identify opportunities within editorial content to integrate relevant affiliate links so our readers can seamlessly upgrade to a new device or make the most of their existing one.

o Research and write regular deals articles and “best of” lists to help readers save on the latest products and tech essentials (e.g. broadband, streaming services, SIM-only plans).

o Monitor affiliate performance over time as well as reader feedback to continually optimise deals coverage, reader experience, and affiliate strategy.

▪ Collaboration:

o Work with editors, developers, designers and commercial teams as part of “One GBN” strategy.

o Write and record short and long-form video scripts based on online articles and helping to build GBN Tech newsletters.

▪ Digital Journalism:

o Be familiar with Content Management Systems (CMS), analytics tools (Google Analytics, Chartbeat), as well as techniques to optimise online articles for SEO (keywords, metadata,

internal linking) to maximise organic reach

o Desire to track analytics and audience insights to refine future content and improve user experience for our readers and viewers.

o A curiosity around the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to enhance the breadth of GB News’ content.
