EYFS / KS1 Teaching Assistant - SEN School - Irlam
Start Date: September 2026Contract: Long-term role with a view to a permanent position
Location: Irlam We are currently recruiting for a dedicated, nurturing and enthusiastic EYFS / KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in Irlam from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs during the early stages of their education. The role will involve working closely alongside the class teacher and wider SEN support team to help pupils thrive both academically and emotionally within the classroom environment. The school caters for children with a variety of additional needs, including:
• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Speech and Language needs
• SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
• Complex learning needs The successful candidate will:
• Have previous experience working within EYFS, KS1 or SEN settings
• Be patient, caring and adaptable in their approach
• Be confident supporting children on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills
• Be passionate about helping children develop confidence, independence and social skills Key responsibilities will include:
• Supporting pupils with learning and classroom activities
• Assisting with phonics, early learning and sensory-based activities
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Supporting children with communication and interaction needs
• Helping to create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment This is a long-term opportunity within a supportive and welcoming SEN setting, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards.
