WORCESTERSHIRE ROYAL HOSPITAL CARDIAC CATHETER LABORATORY - PPCI 24/7 SERVICE STAFF NURSE BAND 5 FIXED TERM-12 MONTHS FULL TIME - 37.5 HRS- COVERING- MATERNITY LEAVE

We are looking for motivated, forward thinking and compassionate nurses to work within our nursing team in the Cardiac Catheter Suite / Cardiology.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team. Cardiac Catheter Suite / Cardiology at Worcester includes 2 laboratories providing 24/7 PPCI for the populations of Worcestershire and Herefordshire. In addition, we also undertake electrophysiology studies; ablation and implantation of complex devices.

Experience in venepuncture, cannulation and the care of acutely ill patients would be an advantage, also experience mentoring students.

We welcome newly or recently qualified staff nurses with good communication skills and pride themselves on delivering quality care under supervision.

We have an induction and teaching package for staff in the Cardiac Catheter Suite and work closely with the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

• We are a busy Cardiac Catheter Lab that carries out diagnostic coronary angiograms, PCI and PPCI 24/7.
• To maintain the day to day, smooth running of the Cardiac Catheter Suite and PPCI 24/7 service within the Cardiac Catheter Suite.
• This service runs on a shift rota basis 5 days a week and on call 24/7.
• In the absence of a senior member of staff manage the shift (1 healthcare assistant, 3 RNs).
• Experience in working within a Cardiology Department or Catheter Lab is essential.

Desirable

• Significant proven knowledge and experience in cardiology/catheter lab.
• Time management skills.
• An understanding of the National Cardiac Guidelines.
