Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School
Location: Hackney, East London
Pay: £108.68 - £115 per day
Contract Type: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
Commutable from: Islington, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Haringey, Waltham Forest, Camden, and Central London.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural and emotional needs.
- Build positive, consistent relationships that encourage trust and engagement.
- Support students in accessing learning and remaining focused during lessons.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and restorative approaches in line with school policies.
- Assist with individual behaviour plans and targeted intervention programmes.
- Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional regulation.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, SEN staff, and external professionals.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to relevant staff.
- Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Act as a positive role model both inside and outside the classroom.
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional needs is highly desirable.
- Confident managing behaviour using a calm, consistent, and restorative approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and educational team.
- Must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
