You will work within a highly skilled and collaborative Histopathology team, contributing to a wide range of specialist services including thoracic oncology, congenital and structural heart disease, pulmonary vascular disease, heart muscle pathology, and interstitial lung disease.

Main duties of the job

• Maintenance of the highest clinical standards to support the management of cardiothoracic patients.
• Share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Cardiothoracic Histo/Cytopathology Service and the running of relevant MDTs.
• Experience in clinical teaching to colleagues and undergraduates.
• Actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.
• Responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

Qualifications
Essential

• Registered with the GMC.
• Passed FRCPath or equivalent in histopathology.
• CCT or equivalent in histopathology or expected within six months.
• On the GMC Specialist Register or entry expected within six months.

Experience
Essential

• Training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in histo- and cytopathology.
• Experience in cardiothoracic pathology in final year (stage D) training or relevant consultant experience.
