Summary
The Survey / Inspections / Maintenance Officer is integral to preserving the quality and safety of property assets through comprehensive site evaluations. This role involves inspecting various assets, including garages, roadways, forecourts, street scenes, paving, and boundary structures. The officer is responsible for identifying defects and dilapidations, capturing photographic evidence, and creating detailed condition reports to support maintenance planning and asset management. This position requires a blend of on-site inspections and office-based documentation, collaborating closely with the administrative team to ensure precise and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of properties, including garages, roads, forecourts, and street-scene environments.
- Identify and assess dilapidations, defects, and maintenance requirements.
- Capture high-quality photographic evidence of site conditions (camera provided).
- Prepare detailed Condition Reports and Schedules of Condition following site visits.
- Record findings accurately using spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Apply appropriate surveying techniques when assessing property condition.
- Ensure compliance with basic Health & Safety (H&S) legislation during inspections.
- Liaise with internal administrative teams to support reporting and documentation processes.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and findings.
- Manage workload effectively between site-based and office-based duties.
- Travel independently to multiple locations as required.
Experience & Skills Required
- Experience in property inspections, surveying, or maintenance assessment is essential.
- Strong understanding of surveying techniques and how to undertake condition surveys.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Schedules of Condition and their purpose.
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety legislation (e.g., Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974).
- Good IT skills, particularly in:
- Microsoft Excel (for developing spreadsheets and schedules)
- Basic report writing and documentation

- Ability to produce clear, structured, and accurate written reports.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to work independently on-site and collaboratively in an office environment.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
Qualifications
- Minimum HNC or HND in Building Studies (or a related discipline)
OR
- A minimum of 10 years’ relevant industry experience in surveying, inspections, or property maintenance.
Working Hours & Contract Details
- Contract Duration: 6 months
- Working Hours: 37 hours per week
- Location: Combination of site-based (field work) and office-based work
- Equipment Provided: Camera for site inspections
Additional Information
- A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required for this role.
- We pay on a bi-weekly basis.
