Operations Manager & Professional Lead

Job overview

Working with a wide network of clinical teams and partners, you’ll lead integrated nursing services so patients receive safe, high-quality care when they need it most.

 

You’ll play a key role in delivering community-based support across nursing services, helping people with long-term conditions and complex needs. Your leadership will ensure services run smoothly, meet quality standards and continue to improve for the future. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, clinicians and partners to deliver shared priorities and strong clinical governance.

 

Main duties of the job

What you’ll do:

  • Lead day-to-day operational management and clinical delivery across community nursing, out of hours, treatment rooms and palliative care services
  • Provide professional leadership and support to multidisciplinary teams
  • Promote safe, effective and evidence-based practice across all services
  • Support service improvement, workforce development and quality assurance
  • Contribute to prescribing practice and clinical decision-making where qualified

What we’re looking for:

  • A registered nurse with strong experience in community or integrated care
  • A background in palliative care with relevant practical experience
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to support teams and services
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and continuous improvement
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification or willingness to develop

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or relevant professional registration appropriate to the role.
  • Nursing Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a management or advanced practice role, including supervision and leadership of staff.
  • Masters qualification in relevant nursing studies or equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Leadership and management qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and seeking continuous improvement through relevant learning, seminars or conferences.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of the NHS, community services and integrated nursing and conditions pathways.
  • Highly developed knowledge and understanding of contractual requirements, performance management requirements and governance processes.
  • Full understanding of relevant policy drivers in the delivery of Integrated Nursing and Conditions services in the community.
  • Full understanding and application of relevant clinical practice, standards, audit and quality governance within the identified clinical area.
  • Proficient computer use including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, internet use and relevant clinical or operational systems

Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of project management systems and service transformation approaches.
  • In-depth understanding of business portfolios, budget management and service development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant demonstrable post-registration experience within a relevant clinical setting
  • Demonstrable experience at operational management, team leader or senior leadership level within a healthcare or community services environment.
  • Proven ability to formulate and implement strategic, operational and service improvement plans.

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing budgets, contracts, business intelligence data and using information to shape and model services.
  • A proven track record of influencing and negotiating with a range of stakeholders and delivering achievement in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Experience of chairing meetings, project involvement, contracting or tendering processes.
