Are you a registered Mental Health Practitioner looking for a new opportunity?

Are you passionate about working with people who have been identified as being at risk of developing Psychosis?

This is known as an At Risk Mental State (ARMS). This is a specific pathway within Early intervention services.

This is an established service based on NICE recommended interventions and include interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Lead professional Input, Family Interventions, Individual Placement Support and many more.

If successful, you will be able to use your skills, knowledge, and experience to join our team and work with people and their families who are experiencing symptoms linked to having an At Risk Mental State.

The team Derbyshire ARMS Service work with people aged 14-64 years old. The team have a 'family first' and psychosocial approach to providing care to an individual whilst in our service. We support people into education, training, volunteering, and employment, accessing social groups/activities and support their physical health outcomes too in order to provide holistic care to the person receiving the service.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide specialist mental health nursing interventions to individuals who have new unusual experiences.
  • Manage a defined caseload of service users , delivering recovery-focused, person-centred care.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments , risk assessments, and develop and review care plans.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team , maintaining strong communication with colleagues, service users, carers, and partner agencies.
  • Act as a mentor and role model to junior staff and students, offering supervision and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with trust policies and professional standards.
  • Support service users in their recovery journey, promoting independence, social inclusion, and overall well-being.
  • Apply up-to-date knowledge of relevant NMC standards and ensure high standards of professional practice.
  • Travel independently across the North Derbyshire area to meet the needs of the service.

Job responsibilities
You will be expected:
  • To be willing to engage in appropriate training for the role.
  • To be the Lead Professional for services users experiencing new and unusual symptoms which relate to an At Risk Mental State and to have an active role in working with families.
  • Be involved in on going learning in the team and with it's goals and vision.
  • Take an active role in the clinical team meetings.
  • To be able to travel across a wide area.
Previous experience of working in an ARMS or Early Intervention Service would be beneficial but not essential. A full induction and orientation to the service will be provided to the successful candidate.
