Location: Ashbourne (DE6)
Pay Scale: £100 - £115 per day
Full Time: 8.30am - 15.30pm
Contract: Full Time | Temp to Perm
Start Date: ASAP

Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a secondary school in Ashbourne to appoint a dedicated full time and part time SEND Teaching Assistant. The school supports students aged 11-18 with a range of additional learning needs, providing targeted support to help them access the curriculum, build confidence, and make positive academic and personal progress. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive SEN department and make a genuine difference to students who require additional help within a mainstream secondary environment.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and wider pastoral team to support students both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will provide 1:1 and small group support across the secondary curriculum, helping students overcome barriers to learning, develop independence, and remain engaged with their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Support students across subjects including English, Maths, Science, and the wider secondary curriculum
  • Adapt resources and learning strategies to meet individual needs and EHCP outcomes
  • Encourage confidence, independence, engagement, and positive behaviour in the classroom
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support students' academic and personal development
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to monitor progress and provide consistent support

Who We're Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting secondary-aged students with SEND or additional learning needs
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or similar is desirable
  • A calm, patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people
  • Confidence supporting students across a range of secondary curriculum subjects
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and helping students achieve positive outcomes
