Cleanroom Supervisor - Advanced ATO

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Cleanroom Supervisor (Advanced ATO) to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills and be highly motivated, with a practical knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice.

The candidate will be required to work within a team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Quality Assurance specialists, senior assistant technical officers and assistant technical officers. The candidate will be required to effectively communicate across all these staffing groups.

We are looking for someone with pharmacy cleanroom experience to take the next step in their career, however this position could be offered as a progressive Band 3-4 role for the right candidate (see Job Description and Person Specification for more information).

Main duties of the job

• To perform a range of organisational, supervisory and manufacturing functions within the pharmacy aseptic unit in order to provide an efficient and quality service.
• Assist with the day to day to supervision and co-ordination of aseptic manufacture and dispensing activities, highlighting any issues to the senior pharmacy technician team.
• Planning and prioritisation of own workload in order to direct junior and trainee team members to maintain consistent workflow.
• Aseptic manufacture of medicines using aseptic technique in pharmaceutical isolators following validated methods and standard operating procedures.
• Provide pre-process checks on assembled trays upon completion of accreditation.
• Provide in-process checks accuracy checks upon completion of accreditation.
• Provide cleanroom supervision during the manufacturing of medicines.
• To assist the Senior Pharmacy Technicians - Education and Training in training staff members in broth transfer validations, transfer processes, assembly, dispensing and manufacture of aseptic products.
• Identify training needs of team members and feed back to the Senior Pharmacy Technicians - Education and Training.
• To carry out environmental monitoring for isolators and clean rooms, reporting any deviations from procedures or parameters.
• To maintain own operator validations as per Standard Operating Procedures.

All work will be undertaken in specialist aseptic clean room facilities which we are required to operate under strict regulatory rules. The guidelines covering the operation of these aseptic facilities mean that staff members with certain long term or recurrent medical or health conditions, such as gastrointestinal or skin conditions, can represent a risk of microbial contamination which therefore precludes access to the clean room. For candidates information, our Occupational Health team will carry out an assessment at the stage when conditional offers are made. The assessment will consider whether any candidate would not be able to work in an aseptic facility and/or whether any candidate would be able to work in an aseptic facility with any restrictions or reasonable adjustments.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential

• GCSE English language, mathematics, science (Grade C or above), or equivalent
• Completion of courses relevant to role, e.g. BTEC Level 2: Unit 7 - Principles of Safe Preparation and Manufacturing of Medicines and Medicinal Products, Cleanroom Supervision in Pharmacy Technical Services (CSPTS), or a willingness to do so
• Completion of a nationally recognised Pre- and In-process Checking (PIPC) course, or a willingness to do so
